The mother of a six-year-old boy who died early on Thursday morning after falling more than 150ft from a tower block in east London had complained to the council that their home was unsafe, the child’s aunt has said.
The victim, named locally as Alam Makial, was said to have fallen out of a window on the 15th floor of Jacobs House in Plaistow shortly before 6am. Witnesses claimed they saw a man circling the child’s body and screaming: “My boy, my boy.”
Police officers, fire brigade, paramedics and air ambulance crews attended but the child died at the scene. His death is being treated as “unexpected”, the Metropolitan Police said. No arrests have been made.
Tributes were placed close to the scene of the boy’s death
