The star witness in the criminal trial of Donald Trump acknowledged lying repeatedly under oath during a gruelling cross-examination.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s former ­lawyer and fixer, was confronted with false statements he had made to ­Congress, to investigators and to a judge who jailed him for three years.

He said that he lied in the past for the benefit of Trump, and later, before a judge, to protect his wife from prosecution.

“The reason why you lied was because the stakes affected you personally,” Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, told Cohen.

“Yes,” he replied.

“Does the outcome of this trial affect you personally?” Blanche asked.

“Yes,” Cohen replied.
