In 2020 in an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine, Raheem Sterling revealed plans for a foundation. There had been footballers with foundations before but this, Sterling promised, would be different.

Its work would be highly focused, very direct and very personal with social mobility at its heart. The mission would be “giving someone who just needs a chance, a step up in life… giving people who aren’t equal a pathway and a push. Investing in individuals who have a drive to succeed, but are held back by circumstances.”
