Queen’s Club to host first women’s event in over 50 years in 2025

LTA announce that championship will take place in week after French Open as part of shake-up to grass-court calendar — but it will not have equal pay with men’s championship

The Queen’s Club will host a women’s tennis championship in 2025 for the first time in more than 50 years as part of a revamped grass-court calendar.

Last held in 1973, the women’s event will take place in the week after the French Open, with the men’s tournament following immediately after. There will not be equal prize money across the two as purses are set by the ATP and WTA. The women’s tour has pledged to have equal prize money at all 1000 level events and some 500 level events — of which Queen’s is one — by 2030. Carlos Alcaraz, last year’s champion, received about £400,000 for winning.
