Live it

This is your guide to home interiors and the kids: we select the best things on the high street for the world that surrounds you

Take it to the max

Missoni Home started doing maximalism long before the design world ditched the Farrow & Ball off-white paint and taupe velvet cushions. With Rosita Missoni at the helm, the bold floral prints, clashing colours and mismatched zigzag stripes have always made for fun and functional, easy-to-live-with furniture, just the kind of thing Rosita’s granddaughter Margherita might sprawl across in the family atelier, bowl of pasta in hand, impromptu gathering of relatives just waiting to happen.

For the rest of us, the products work as a quick way to add a bit of colour and personality to a room, with a teacup here or a floor cushion there. And Missoni Home’s latest offering is no exception.

The Bubble Lamp (£518; amara.co.uk) is an instant art installation; an oversized bauble of a ball pendant; a statement piece when what you’re trying to say is that you’re bored with dull interiors schemes.

And with party season approaching, what other impression could you possibly want to make?

Tea in china

Mugs are often the most oddly personal thing that you own. Everyone has a favourite that tea simply tastes better from.

Deck your children out in Little Joules this Christmas and you’ll be one step ahead come January.

This offshoot of Joules, the British fashion company, launches its first precollection to coincide with the Christmas party season, and it’s perfect for junior movers and shakers looking to inject a bit of colour into their winter wardrobe.

This year, eschew festive velvets in favour of rainbow colours, big bows and oversized florals for girls, and animal tees, Breton stripes and coloured jeans for boys.
