iRadio: FM radio/transmitter, £44.99, ipodworld.co.uk
A combined FM radio, FM transmitter and inline remote control, the iRadio will let you listen to the Today programme or the latest chart hits. Reception suffers with fickle frequencies while you’re on the move, but the stereo sound quality is generally good and there’s no need for extra batteries. Aspiring DJs can also broadcast their favourite mp3 playlists to nearby radios.
Verdict: ‘i’nother good idea.
i-Tech bluetooth virtual keyboard, £114.95, www.expansys.com
Don’t bother with fiddly thumb-boards or folding keyboards, just project the laser image of a full-size QWERTY keyboard on to a flat surface. The pocket-sized box connects to a PDA or smartphone through Bluetooth and a second invisible beam detects your “key presses”. Strange though it is to type without the feel of moving keys, it works, but you still have to carry another device.
Verdict: Illuminating unless you’re working in sunshine.

Maybelline New York Superstay, £7.99, Boots
Reapplying lipstick every hour is a chore, but spit and polish matters in business, so what’s a girl to do? Maybelline New York’s 12-hour lipstick promises to stay put come coffee or kisses, and it does. Neither showering nor make-up remover could shift the colour, which is kept perky with a clear, moisturising gloss.
Verdict: Be Barbie for a day.
