Celebrate Lone Star Día with Us!

Celebrate Lone Star Día in 2024 with three new bilingual story time videos, shared below.

The videos of these wonderful English/Spanish picture books are great to share with little ones, from toddlers to second grade students, and can build word comprehension in both languages. We will also have activity resources in English and Spanish, to accompany all three books.

Children’s Day, Book Day (El día de los niños, El día de los libros) is a celebration of children, culture, and literature, founded by author, literacy advocate, and native Texan Pat Mora and celebrated every April 30.

In Texas, we call this celebration Lone Star Día. Here are resources to help you, your library, or organization discover Bookjoy every day!

Here are resource pages in English and Spanish with activities to accompany each video:   English | Spanish

We hope libraries, schools, universities, literacy organizations, and all who wish to promote Día will post these videos on social media, showcase them on your website, and share them with patrons, students, and families. We are excited to share these wonderful, short Día video spots created by Día Dynamos Christy Vasquez, a retired librarian, and Thom Eberhardt, a retired screenwriter.
