Love of Writing: Fueling Literary Dreams
Join author and Texas CFTB Coordinator Rebekah Manley in discussion about her debut book and the sparks that keep her writing dreams burning bright.

Rebekah Manley accepted her dream job in 2015. She serves as the Coordinator for the Texas Center for the Book at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Under the umbrella of the Center for the Book National at the Library of Congress, she works to celebrate the written word and encourage literacy, reading, and library use in the Lone Star State.

Rebekah is also an author and holds her Master of Fine Arts in Children’s Literature from Hollins University. Her debut book, Alexandra and the Awful, Awkward, No Fun, Truly Bad Dates: A Picture Book Parody for Adults was released in the fall of 2020. She lives in Austin, Texas, and is fueled by swimming, queso, and good conversation.

Moderator: Gloria Meraz is the Assistant State Librarian at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. She oversees communications and government relations for the agency and serves as the records management officer. Previously, she worked as director of communications for the Texas Library Association for 17 years, where she oversaw government relations, publications, and public relations and served as the editor of the Texas Library Journal. She also coordinated statewide efforts to promote library and information services, reading initiatives, secure funding for library programs, and implement policies to support effective and open public access to information. She holds a BA from Baylor University and an MLIS with a specialization in Archives from the University of Texas at Austin.
