It is the season of illness and oppression for them, after they have lived with great difficulty with the conditions of extreme heat. The winter season comes bearing severe cold and chest diseases that have begun to attack the children and adults of my family.

Because of the extreme danger to them and to protect them from chronic diseases, we searched for an apartment to rent to the adults and children of the family only, numbering 13 people, for a period of six months. The tenant had asked for $1,400 Canadian dollars per month, for a total of $8,400 Canadian dollars for six months.

Do you think that the matter is limited to this? There is another side: These people do not have winter covers or heavy clothes to protect them from the cold of winter.

What if the adults and children of the family stayed in the tent!! 🤔

Help Khalid Sisters in Gaza not to be Homeless

Hello Dear,

We, (Najwa, Jana, Farah, and Maryam), are the sisters of Shaheed Khalid Saed Ash-Shawwah, who was martyred on 07/31/24 along with Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul and his colleague, photographer Rami Al-Rifi . Khalid was our older and only brother and he was a great support for us and others. As you may heard Khalid’s story in the news, he was bombed while he was riding his bicycle coming back from delivering food to our old and injured neighbors.

Before the IDF forces killed our brother Khalid, they forced us to evacuate our house and left everything behind. They then destroyed our house and our father’s restaurant. We had to move at least 10 times since every new area we seek refuge to gets bombed.

Currently, the 4 of us and our parents, are living devastating and sad life in a bombed room in Gaza. It is extremely difficult for us to get the basic needs of food, water, and shelter.

We sincerely hope you can empathize with our dire situation and consider supporting us. We are raising funds in order to be able to pay the rising cost of basic necessities in north Gaza. Our family is large and the cost of survival in north Gaza is astronomical. If you have anything you can spare, we implore you to support us. “My name is Eslam from Gaza, I’m 29 years old, and I’m a children teacher from Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. a mother of two daughters, Hanaa 5 years old, and Alma, 10 months old. My husband Rasmi is the director of 3 language and training centers. In this war, our house was completely destroyed and razed to the ground, and my husband’s centers were blown up. He lost his job, and we were completely displaced, and we are now homeless and jobless, My two young daughters constantly suffer from diseases due to malnutrition and water pollution.

Danger and death surround us all day and all night. We have lost everything and depend on donations to survive and, most of all, to have any hope of escaping this genocide and evacuating to safety in Egypt. The cost of daily living continues to rise significantly in Gaza - imagine that we cannot find the type of milk for our daughter because of its high price. There is no kind of detergent and this is the cause of skin diseases for my two little girls. We bought a piece of soap for $30! ، and detergent is 100$.

To say I’m overwhelmed would be an understatement.

There’s been very little progress.. $10 today. I’m disabled and my body can’t do homelessness again. My health is barely starting to edge towards functional. The stress of losing everything… I’ll lose any of that. I don’t know, genuinely, if that’s something that will completely shut my body down. My body just does that now during intense stress after so much of it, it’s this involuntary stress response.
