i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.

there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people's genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it's working.

a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren't able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.

JUST WITNESSED SOMETHING ABSOLUTELY RANCID. i had just gotten back from taking out the recycling and there was a couple (prob in their mid/late 20s, a tall white guy and a short asian girl) coming in from the parking garage of my apartment building and the guy was holding what i think was a small tennis racket and then they went past a corner and i heard a loud SLAP sound and then the girl going “stoppppp 🙈” and then i went down the same hallway and heard them talking but couldn’t hear what they said and they looked back in my direction but not like At me and we didn’t make eye contact and then right as they got to the door of their apartment which was like four doors ahead of mine i saw him slap her with it again right on the ass. there has to be some kind of hotline i can call i should not have to see this and i hope that man gets killed in some kind of freak accident

The UK is so fucking bad right now. Multiple hotels being used for asylum have been set on fire, poc have been beaten and stabbed, mosques are being violently targeted, and riots have started in multiple cities. I know there's a lot going on in the world right now but if you live in the UK, please check the stand up to racism website for any counter protests or calls for protection, and if you don't, they have a gofundme to help fund their efforts.
