FOLLOWING rumours suggesting Angelina Jolie was set to take a role in a new Gucci biopic (read the full story here), director Ridley Scott has added fuel to the fire by confirming that the film will be his next major project, but refused to confirm Angelina Jolie in the lead role. After finishing Robin Hood, currently being shot with Russell Crowe, the Hollywood producer told WWD he hopes to complete filming of the Gucci biopic by the end of next summer. The filmmaker confirmed that if all goes well it would be released in early 2011, but emphasised that his first concern was to "get the script absolutely right". "It's the history of the family and how it evolved," he added. Angelina Jolie was rumoured to have been approached to play convicted killer Patrizia Reggiani - former wife of murdered fashion mogul Maurizio Gucci - opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the as-yet-untitled film, but Scott asserted it was "too early" to confirm the cast.
