The SNL Cast Made Their Moms Read Cue Cards for Mother’s Day

Every few Mother’s Days, Saturday Night Live pulls on the heartstrings by having the cast parade out their moms and make them read off cue cards. It’s a beautiful tradition, where we get to see the cast’s mothers razz their kids and show off their own comedy chops. Andrew Dismukes’s mom threatened to show a “tasteful nude,” Sarah Sherman’s mom said she’d “hoped you’d be on Jackass” instead, and Chloe Troast’s mom said she doesn’t watch live since she’s at the club on Saturdays. Meanwhile, Mikey Day appeared to be wearing a wig made to look like his normal hair — which was explained when he had to wear a bald cap a couple of sketches later. Speaking of bald caps, Molly Kearney and their mom both donned bald caps, since their mom always wondered what it was like. “It’s hot, it’s itchy, and it’s gonna make this our dumbest Christmas card photo ever,” she said. Since the Please Don’t Destroy boys are “only sort of in the cast” they were only allowed to bring out their dads. But instead of their actual dads — a crew that includes recognizable former SNL writers Tim Herlihy and Steve Higgins — three actors took on the roles for the joke. A great bit that helped avoid nepo discourse in the process! Speaking of, Colin Jost and his famous mother (former FDNY Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kerry Kelly) appeared with matching haircuts — making it a great cold open for wigs. Bowen Yang and his mom then closed things out with a heartfelt message, and a hall pass joke that brought down the house.
