A busy road in south Wales is currently closed due to a "serious" collision on Wednesday afternoon, June 26. South Wales Police has confirmed that they have been called to the scene of the incident on the A48 between Colwinston in Cowbridge and Treoes in Bridgend.

The police force has said that the road is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for some time. South Wales Police has warned motorists to avoid the area and find an alternative route.

AA's traffic map has also confirmed there is heavy traffic in the area. On the website, a traffic update reads: "Road closed and heavy traffic due to crash on A48 Crack Hill both ways between the Colwinston turn off and the Treoes turn off."

Posting on X, South Wales Police said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A48 between Colwinston and Troes, between Bridgend and Cowbridge. The road is currently closed in both directions. It is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
