Ernst IV Hannover was a member of the aristocracy in Europe.

Ernst August, Hereditary Prince of Brunswick, Prince of Hanover[1] (German: Ernst August Prinz von Hannover; 18 March 1914 – 9 December 1987) was head of the House of Hanover from 1953 until his death in 1987.

Ernst August IV Prinz von Hannover was born on 18 March 1914 at Braunschweig, Germany. He was the son of Ernst August III Christian Georg Prinz von Hannover and Viktoria-Luise Adelheid Mathilde Charlotte Prinzessin von Preußen. He married Ortrud Bertha Adelheid Hedwig Prinzessin zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, daughter of Albrecht Prinz zu Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and Hertha Prinzessin zu Ysenburg und Büdingen, on 31 August 1951 at Schloss Marienburg, Nordstemmen, Hanover, Germany, in a civil marriage, They were remarried 4 days later in a religious ceremony, at Hannover. He married Monika Gräfin zu Solms-Laubach, daughter of Georg Friedrich Graf zu Solms-Laubach and Johanna Marie Gräfin zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich, on 16 July 1981 at Laubach, Hessen, Germany, in a civil marriage. Ernst August IV and Monika were also married in a religious ceremony on 17 July 1981 at Laubach, Hessen, Germany. He died on 9 December 1987 at age 73. He gained the title of Prince Ernst August of Hanover. He gained the title of HRH Prince Ernest Augustus of the United Kingdom. He gained the title of Herzog von Braunschweig-Lüneburg. He was given the name of Ernst August Georg Wilhelm Christian Ludwig Franz Joseph Nikolaus Hanover at birth. He abdicated as Prince of the United Kingdom on 28 March 1919 Deprived of his British titles by an Order in Council.[1]
