Biography

Professor Launcelot Harrison was born on 13th July 1880 at Wellington, New South Wales, Australia.

On 29th February 1908 he married Amy Mack a writer and journalist.[1] There were no children.

They left for England in 1914 where Launce did postgraduate work at Cambridge. While he served in Mesopotamia, while Amy worked in London as publicity officer for the ministries of munitions and food.[2]

The Harrisons returned to Sydney in 1919 and lived at Gordon, New South Wales in a house full of books, antique furniture and Persian carpets. From 1922 until his death Launce was professor of zoology at the University of Sydney. Amy accompanied Launce on scientific expeditions in between writing tasks.

He passed away of a stroke whilst fishing on 20th February 1928 at Narooma, New South Wales.[3]
