Husband of
May Gertrude (Sturge) Gretton
— married
5 Jan 1899 (to 31 Oct 1911) in Friends' Meeting House, Leicester, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom
After his university education in Sydney, he spent some time in Oxford on a travelling scholarship.[3]
Shortly before returning to Sydney (where they lived for 18 months), George, son of Richard Henderson & Anne Henderson, married May Gertrude Sturge, daughter of Joseph Marshall Sturge & Annie Sturge, on 5 Jan 1899 in Worcestershire, England.[4][5]
They returned to Europe for a while, including time living with May's parents in Oxfordshire.
However, when George took up a position at Adelaide, his wife did not accompany him. They were eventually divorced in 1911.[6][7]
In the 1901 census George (age 30), Lecturer (Oxford Delegacy), was the married head of household in Kingham, Oxfordshire, England.[8]
In 1922, George married Dr Annie Heloise Abel in Adelaide, South Australia.[9][10] That marriage also broke down.
Professor Henderson departed from England on 12 April 1930 arriving in Freemantle in May 1930.[11][12]
He died at Dora Creek in New South Wales in 1944, after suffering from depression.[13][14][15]
