Joyce Lovell Small was born on 16th July 1907 in Maclean, New South Wales, Australia. She was the daughter of Sydney Small and Alice Millar. [1]
Joyce married Frank Henderson in 1938 in Maclean. [2] She returned to Papua and New Guinea with her husband, where he was then involved in agriculture. Frank was a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Australian Air Force's 107 Squadron during the Second World War. Following the war he became a public servant and parliamentarian in the administration of the Territories of Papua and New Guinea. Frank passed away in 1969 in Port Moresby.
Her father died in 1956 in Ulmarra, New South Wales and her mother in 1963 in Port Moresby whilst visiting Joyce and Frank.
Joyce passed away in New South Wales on 17th August 2006, aged 99 years. Her ashes are placed in the St Paul's Anglican Churchyard Cemetery, Emu Plains. [3][4]
