William Charles Wentworth was born in 1871 at Merly House, Poole, Dorset, England. He was the eldest son of Fitzwilliam Wentworth and Mary Hill, and grandson of William Charles Wentworth, the pioneer explorer, businessman, newspaper proprietor and statesman.[1] The family were then visiting the Wentworths in England.
William graduated from the University of Sydney and took office as a barrister.
He married Florence Denise Griffiths in 1906 at Woollahra, New South Wales.[2]
He passed away, aged 77 years, on 1st August 1949 at Paddington, New South Wales.[3][4]
Obituary: "Mr. William Charles Wentworth, of Point Piper, a grandson of the Australian explorer and statesman, W. C. Wentworth, died in Sydney yester- day aged 77. Mr. Wentworth is survived by Mrs. W. C. Wentworth, two sons, Messrs. W. C. Wentworth, junior, of Manly, and G. N. Wentworth, of Leadville, and three daughters, Mrs. M. Walker, of Bellevue Hill, Mrs. M. McCallum, and Mrs. A. Weekes, of Edgecliff."[5]
