The three victims of a deadly collision between a private car and truck in Jyväskylä on Tuesday morning were students at Humak University of Applied Sciences, the institution's president, Jukka Määttä, told Yle.
The three young adults were driving on national road 9 from Korpilahti towards Jyväskylä when their car collided with a lorry at just after 8am. Three of the people in the car died in the crash, while one was injured.
Määttä said that the school was offering crisis assistance to students and staff members. The institution also planned to hold an assembly for students surrounding the tragedy on Wednesday morning.
"Yes, this is a very tragic blow," Määttä said, expressing his deep condolences to the victims' relatives. All six of Humak's campuses observed a day of mourning on Wednesday. The institution has campuses in Jyväskylä, the Helsinki Metropolitan area, Turku and Kuopio.
Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the victims, but are expected to do so in coming days.
An accident investigation is still in its infancy, according to police.
