Interviewed on Yle Monday morning, the general secretary for the Finnish Organizing Committee, Mika Sulin, said the Championships made a profit. Exact figures will be available in the autumn.

"Yes, we made it into the black with this tournament. That's for sure. The Finnish Ice Hockey Association took a big risk. We had no fallback or financial support for the World Championships, it was all put together at the Hockey Association's own risk," Sulin pointed out.

Sulin conceded that ticket pricing for the games failed. In his view, in future a range of tickets in difference price classes should be made available. Even though tickets were seen by many fans has highly overpriced, more that 300,000 were sold to the matches played in Helsinki.

Sulin expressed satisfaction with arrangements for the championships overall and said that organizers have received positive feedback from both teams and the media.

"One of the best championships, for sure," beamed Mika Sulin.
