Finland's gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 0.4 percent in April-June compared with the first three months of the year, according to data from Statistics Finland.

Meanwhile, inflation fell to 1.0 percent in July, down from 1.3 percent in June. According to Statistics Finland, the decrease is mainly due to a smaller rise in the average interest rate on housing loans.

Finland is doing considerably better than the rest of the EU. According to preliminary data, inflation in the euro area as a whole was 2.6 percent in July.

Inflation in Finland has been gradually slowing down for several months now.

Electricity cheaper

Consumer prices were up 1.0 percent in July compared to the same period last year. These included higher interest rates and higher maintenance fees.

Prices also rose by 0.2 percentage points compared to June, which was largely due to more expensive international air traffic and more expensive package travel within the EU.

On the other hand, electricity, childcare and the maintenance of owner-occupied homes have become cheaper compared to last year.

Food prices began to decline in February and continue in the same trend, the Natural Resources Institute Luke reported during the early summer.
