Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common arrythmias, especially in elderly patients. Treatment is essential to avoid the serious complications that can occur from atrial fibrillation. Although the standard approach to treatment includes anticoagulation and rate control, rhythm control may now be an option for some patients because of encouraging new results from catheter ablation trials.
