Manage your podcasts in Google Podcasts

Tip: To get the latest Podcasts features, update the Google app.

Download Podcasts

Download episodes
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts Google podcasts.
  2. Tap a podcast and then an episode and then Download Download.
Auto download episodes
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts Google podcasts.
  2. At the bottom, tap Home Home.
  3. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Podcast settings.
  4. Under “Downloads,” tap Auto downloading.
  5. Turn on Auto download new episodes.
  6. Under “Your subscriptions,” turn on podcasts you want to auto download.
Change when downloads are removed

By default, Google Podcasts removes downloaded episodes:

  • 24 hours after you finish them.
  • 30 days after you download them.

To change these settings:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Podcasts app Google podcasts.
  2. At the bottom, tap Home Home.
  3. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Podcast settings.
    • For completed episodes, tap Remove completed episodes and choose a time period.
    • For unfinished episodes, tap Remove unfinished episodes and choose a time period.
Remove downloaded episodes

To remove:

  • A specific episode:
    1. Tap the episode.
    2. Tap Downloaded Downloaded and then Remove download.
  • All downloaded episodes:
    1. Tap Library  and then Downloads.
    2. Tap More More and then Remove all.

Do more with Google Podcasts

Unsubscribe from a podcast
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts Google podcasts.
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  and then Subscriptions.
  3. At the top right, tap Edit Edit.
  4. To unsubscribe from:
    • A single podcast: Next to the podcast, tap Unsubscribe Unsubscribe.
    • Multiple podcasts: Select each podcast, then tap Unsubscribe multiple Unsubscribe multiple.
Set a sleep timer

To keep your place while you listen to an episode, you can set a sleep timer.

  1. While you listen to a podcast, at the bottom, tap the episode.
  2. Scroll to the bottom, then tap Sleep Sleep.
  3. Set a timer or tap End of this episode.
  4. Tap Start.
Delete your Podcasts history

When you delete a Podcasts activity from My Activity, it may take up to 24 hours before the activity is removed from the History tab of the Google Podcasts app.

  1. Go to your Podcasts history in My Activity.
  2. Choose what you want to delete:
    • All your Podcasts history: Below the search bar, tap Delete.
    • Specific day: Next to the day, tap Delete all activity from [day] Remove.
    • Specific activity: Below the activity, tap Details and then at the top, tap More  and then Delete.
Tip: When you delete podcast activities, you remove episodes from the History tab in the Google Podcasts app, and mark these episodes as unplayed. When you delete searches, you clear the search history in the Google Podcasts app.

Go to a podcast's site

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts Google podcasts.
  2. Open the podcast’s page.
  3. Tap Visit website Visit website.

Turn personalized recommendations on or off 

When you’re signed in to your Google Account, Google might recommend podcasts based on:

  • Your Google Podcasts history.
  • If you have Web & App Activity turned on, your activity across Google products.

To turn personalized recommendations on or off:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts Google podcasts.
  2. At the bottom, tap Home Home.
  3. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Podcast settings.
  4. Under “Explore,” turn Show personalized recommendations on or off.
