Foreign Minister Baerbock on the sentencing of Osman Kavala to aggravated life imprisonment by a court in Turkey
This sentence stands in stark contrast to the rule-of-law standards and international obligations to which Turkey is committed as a member of the Council of Europe and an EU accession candidate. We expect to see Osman Kavala released immediately – the European Court of Human Rights has ordered Turkey to do so.
