Officer fires gun after mistaking falling acorn for gunshot

A Florida deputy has resigned after mistaking the sound of a falling acorn on his car for a gunshot, prompting him to open fire at an unarmed suspect.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has released the bodycam footage of the incident, which took place in November 2023. The unarmed suspect was not injured.
