Can I use BBC Sounds on my TV?

Yes you can! The BBC Sounds TV app will either be pre-installed on connected TVs, or available to download from the TV app or player menu/store.

If the app is available on your TV, you'll know that it's supported and should work as expected.

To get started, you'll need to sign into your BBC account. For more information on this, have a look here: How do I sign in to BBC Sounds on my TV?

BBC Sounds isn't available on my TV

All new TV devices that support BBC online services will support the BBC Sounds TV app.

For older devices, live radio stations are available from your digital TV's electronic programme guide.

To listen to on-demand radio programmes, you'll need to listen through the BBC Sounds website or BBC Sounds app for mobiles and tablets.

Apple TV

Unfortunately, BBC Sounds is not available on Apple TV. Sounds on TV is built using HTML5 technology which works on most connected TVs. However, as Apple TV does not support HTML5 we are unable to provide Sounds to these devices. You can use Apple AirPlay to stream content from BBC Sounds on your iPhone or iPad to an Apple TV.

Why is Radio 1 available on BBC iPlayer on connected TVs?

You might have noticed BBC Radio 1 is one of the channels available on our BBC iPlayer application. This gives you access to BBC Radio 1's video content (such as interviews with bands and actors or film reviews), not their radio content.
