  1. Rockets men set new Hundred record

That was extraordinary. Trent Rockets men pulled off the highest chase in the Hundred with relative ease, Dawid Malan hitting 98 not out.

Birmingham Phoenix made a winning start to the women's competition too by beating Welsh Fire while earlier on the Rockets women beat the Originals women. Aussie leg-spinner Alana King took a hat-trick in that one.

Scroll down for all of the reaction to the Rockets' record-win and there's still one more game to come at 18:00 BST when the Fire and Phoenix men meet in Cardiff.

    It has been some day...

  2. 'Whatever is put in front of us we can chase'

Lewis Gregory, Trent Rockets captain, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was brilliant to watch, brilliant for us and brilliant for the fans. Dawid's striking it nicely. We spoke after the first game about going out there and he's shown everyone what he can do.

"We knew we needed to get off to a flyer and that Hales can hit a massive ball. We just built on that momentum and took it in to the game.

"We've got more power in the squad this year and know that whatever is put in front of us we can chase. We've bowled well this season and haven't had to do much with the bat so today we proved we can do that too.

"There's still things to improve on in the field but we've got momentum and today was good."

  3. 'Rockets have all bases covered'

    Saqib Mahmood

    England bowler on BBC Radio

Last time I was here, a week ago, I said the Superchargers were the team to beat. That was before the Trent Rockets had played and having watched these guys over the last three games, I can't see them losing a game. They have all bases covered.

They have left-hand, right-hand and we know how hard that is to defend if there is a short boundary one side. Even with the ball, they've got Shamsi with Rashid Khan coming back - those are the best two spinners in the world in T20 cricket.

They've got Luke Wood with pace, Daniel Sams another left-armer with variations, Luke Fletcher who can nail his yorkers, Samit Patel who has been there and done it. They've got so much strength in depth and the coach, Andy Flower, is a serial winner.

  4. 'All okay in the end' - Malan

Rockets batter Dawid Malan, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a lovely wicket to bat on. I thought they had too many so to get over to the line was brilliant. We know that if we get a good start we've got more of a chance and with Hales and me to put them under pressure to take wickets.

"I thought our bowlers were great and we let the down with some drops myself included. We thought we'd let ourselves down with the ball but it was all okay in the end.

"We know more about the Hundred this year and we know we need to get ahead of the game and take risks early to get ahead of the rate.

"We've gone three from three and it's Birmingham Phoenix next and some home games so hopefully we can win those and get ahead of the other guys."

  5. Post update

I'm not sure anyone thought the Trent Rockets men would win that. The Originals 189-3 was the highest second score ever in the Hundred around an hour ago.

The problem is the Rockets went and beat it.

  6. Post update

Trent Rockets have come to Old Trafford and beaten the Originals twice. First it was all about Alana King and her hat-trick. Then Dawid delivered.

  7. Post update

"I thought they had a few too many," Dawid Malan says.

He made it look a breeze.

  8. Post update

I don't think anyone is dropping Dawid Malan from England's T20 team now.

The Rockets make it three out of three.

We've said this a lot in the last week but are they now the team to beat?

  9. Post update

    And breathe.

    What a game.

You can watch it all later on iPlayer on the Hundred Drop - our catch up programme.

  10. BreakingTRENT ROCKETS BEAT MANCHESTER ORIGINALS BY EIGHT WICKETS

    Extraordinary.

Trent Rockets have chased 190 - the highest chase in the Hundred - with six balls to spare.

Dawid Malan ends on a sensational 98 not out.

  11. Rockets men 189-2

NO NO NO. Malan smashes one but it's straight to a fielder on the bounce. He takes a single and that means he'll end on 98 not out.

He beats his bat in frustration.

The Rockets need one to win.

  12. Rockets men 188-2

Smoked for six! Dawid Malan goes to 97.

Two needed for the win. Can he do it in style?

  13. Rockets men 182-2

Fred Klassen starts with a dot ball, one where no runs are scored.

  14. Post update

    Stephan Shemilt

BBC Sport chief cricket writer at Kia Oval

How good would it be that after we told Malan to hit it into the building site, he gets his hundred by hitting it into the building site!

  15. Post update

  16. Rockets men 182-2

Need eight to win from 10 balls

Dawid Malan keeps the strike this time. He still has a chance on 91 not out.

Remember an hour ago when Manchester Originals were racing to 189? Things have changed since. Mad.

  17. Rockets men 178-2

A single takes Malan to 90 from 40 balls.

12 runs needed for the win.

  18. Rockets men 176-2

    Need 14 balls to win

Just singles to end the over.

The Rockets need 14 to complete the highest chase in the Hundred. Dawid Malan needs 11 for his century.

  19. Rockets men 174-2

    Target 190

Four more! The Rockets are closing in. Malan might miss out on a hundred at this rate.

  20. Rockets men 170-2

Ah that releases the tension at Old Trafford. Iain Cockbain gets a little edge past wicketkeeper Phil Salt.

20 to win now for the Rockets in this record chase.
