Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "I don't think we did enough to warrant taking anything from the game. I thought from the opening minute we were very sloppy, we gave Motherwell a lift psychologically with how slow we were in possession.

"It was quite simply not good enough. Too many were not at the levels they've been at recently, and that's why we lost the game.

"We have to be able to handle teams coming here and hitting us on the counter attack and setting traps from it. We didn't do things quick enough, we didn't find our forward players in good enough positions. We didn't anticipate danger enough. I will take full responsibility for the goal from the corner because I set them up in a certain way, but the other two goals are very avoidable.

"Everyone was raving about the performance last week and today it's very much back down to earth with a bang."

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson admits "it sounds a bit silly" saying he is pleased with much of side's performance in a 4-0 defeat by Rangers.

"First half, I thought we played well," he tells BBC Scotland. "Rangers had the majority of the ball, but we defended well as a group and worked extremely hard and at times when we transitioned to the other end was quite good.

"Second half, we tried to have a little go and put bodies forward to put them under a bit of pressure."

While Davidson was disappointed with the goals conceded "I have seen big improvements in the team going forward".

St Johnstone lost midfielder Cammy MacPherson early on to injury and, although Davidson does not know the extent of the problem he says: "It's not great when someone goes down with nobody near him."

However, he was impressed with replacement Daniel Phillips, the former Watford midfielder making his debut. "I thought he did very well - I am quite excited to bring him and get him properly fit," he adds.

Hibernian Lee Johnson tells BBC Scotland: "It was a game of two halves in terms of our performance. We were really poor. They know their home surface, they know the way to play. They were brave and broke off the back of that.

"Second half, we were much better and disappointing to be undone by poor defending from our point of view. We didn't have the quality to execute when there were good chances to do that.

"It's a young team that doesn't know the SPFL. These are the lessons that you learn very quickly. We were up for it, but played into their hands too often.

"I was just disappointed in two or three of our lads, athletically and mentally, going into the game. It's being able to be at your best when it matters most. You've got to be the best player at 0-0. It's easier to be a good player at 1-0 down.

"There's some good players out there who didn't do enough today, it's as simple as that."

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst expects winger Ryan Kent and defender James Sands "to be okay for Tuesday" after both missed the 4-0 defeat of St Johnstone through injury.

Van Bronckhorst made four changes in all as his side warmed up for their Champions League play-off at home to PSV Eindhoven with a third consecutive Premiership win.

"Really pleased because we changed some players today - some we had to and some we gave more minutes - so overall it was a positive day for us," he tells BBC Scotland.

Van Bronckhorst was not just pleased with "the overall display" and "the three points" but the "four goals and a clean sheet".

"Overall, the drive to keep going and try to score goals right to the end," he adds.

Livingston boss David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: " The boys were fantastic, defended our box well and I'm really proud of them."

[On yellow card]: "I thought it was a dive at the time. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm not saying he's doing it to cheat, but he's gone down really easy. I spoke to Martin Boyle after on the park and he said it was a penalty. The referee never said it was. The emotions are high from both dugouts at that point.

"It was just a wee frustration boiling over. It helped the players on the park, strangely. They saw the emotion from the dugout, which got the stand going, which got the players going."

[On Joel Nouble]: "I think Nouble needs to stay at Livingston. If a bid came for him before the window shut, he won't be going anywhere. We need Joel Nouble. Another six-to-12 months will do us both well."

Ross County manager Malky Mackay tells BBC Scotland: “I think in the second half we came into it. We had really good pressure near the end.

“It was a moment of real quality that won the game in the end, it was a really good goal in a pretty tight game.

“Maybe because of the heat today it was played at quite a slow speed. There were times it looked like a pre-season game with both teams and the pace of it at points.

“It’s three games in with two good performances and we have to be better than we were today, undoubtedly.

“There were a couple of times today we got into positions and you’re thinking we should be pulling the trigger."

Livingston striker Joel Nouble tells BBC Scotland: "The gaffer always tells me to be direct because one of my strengths is taking on players.

"I'm playing up top by myself so when I got there, I said to myself, 'it's just me, no-one else?' So I just ran at him, went past him and kept my composure.

"Every team in this league is a good team. When we went out second half, we knew they'd come back all guns blazing. We all know Martin Boyle is a top quality player and when he came on, it lifts everyone and lifts the crowd.

"We always had belief. We knew we'd get another chance and luckily we took it."

Motherwell manager Steven Hammell tells BBC Scotland: "I'm delighted, more so the performance if I'm honest than the result. We were excellent. We played with a real intensity and a real purpose. It was pleasing to see.

"It's one win, we're not getting carried away.

"We knew we had the better of the first half and we knew there would be a reaction. But we stuck to what we were doing and we believed in what we were doing, we scored a couple of nice goals and we could have scored more."

This was the moment Ayo Obileye got a decisive winner for Livingston against Hibernian.

It was pretty end-to-end at the Tony Macaroni Arena and both sides can probably say they deserved something but it was Livi that prevailed.

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: “I’m pleased for the players. For the level of performances in recent weeks, outwith 22 minutes against Aberdeen, that was their just rewards.

"They stuck in, they were really well organised and Ross County didn’t create a lot against us, which we set out to do.

"It’s a tremendous finish from Richard Tait that wins the game for us.

"We created a lot of half-chances, we had some good play, maybe tried to pass it a bit too much instead of delivering balls into the box."

The Buddies had opened with defeats by Motherwell and Aberdeen.

And Robinson added: "When you get three points it lifts the pressure off but I don’t think there was a load of pressure getting put on them. We were playing well and performing well and we’ve found a system that works for us."

As usual, the Scottish Championship looks very congested with only four points separating top from bottom. Again, too early to draw any conclusions but all the indicators are it will be another tight league campaign.

It's still way too early in the season for league tables to 'matter' but, for what it's worth, here is how the Scottish Premiership looks midway through weekend three of the season.

Rangers maintain their 100% record, Motherwell and Livingston have picked up second wins, St Mirren now have a first victory and Ross County prop up the division with no points so far.
