Ajax explore move to sign Aston Villa star Tim Iroegbunam – sources
Ajax are exploring a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old emerging star is on the shortlist of the Dutch giants ahead of the summer window as they look to bring in a central midfielder who they can develop.
Iroegbunam is rated highly within the corridors of power at Aston Villa but has struggled for game time under Unai Emery.
However, he did feature home and away against Ajax in the Europa Conference League – a tie Villa won 4-0 on aggregate.
It is believed the Midlands giants could now be open to cashing in on another young, homegrown star this summer to meet the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

Home-grown sales are crucial to the Midlands giants as they are considered pure profit in the club’s accounts.
Iroegbunam has turned out eight times for Villa’s senior side this term, playing 148 minutes in total.
The England Under-20 international’s only other taste of senior football came on loan at Queens Park Rangers in the 2022-23 campaign.
He made 28 starts in 33 total appearances for the Championship side and played in a variety of midfield roles.
