Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque's most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He's a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash. Jimmy works with private eye Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia cop and recent transplant to the Southwest. Judy Berman Esquire Magazine Better Call Saul points the way to a new sort of TV drama-one that takes flawed characters as a given, but uses those flaws to challenge our assumptions about what "good" and "bad" even mean. Sep 21, 2017 Full Review Inkoo Kang MTV It's Jimmy's thorny relationships... that made up the most involving elements of Better Call Saul's sorrowful, emotionally knotty, fantastic follow-up season. Apr 20, 2016 Full Review James Poniewozik New York Times Entering its second... Better Call Saul is not the best drama on TV. But it's one of the most unusual and daring. Apr 6, 2016 Full Review Oliver Whitney ScreenCrush We already know where Jimmy eventually ends up, but as Better Call Saul charts his path deeper into corruption, Gilligan's spinoff is only bound to get more addictive. Jun 18, 2018 Full Review Pat Stacey The Herald (Ireland) After one mouth-watering instalment, promises to be as much fun as the first one. Forged S Oof, this season was rough. While it maintained it's outstanding character development, I can help but feel that this season was setting up something greater and thus, was filler. That being said, I can truly appreciate the use of color as a metaphor for deeper meaning in the series (Yellow- represents comfort and cowardice, Red intensity and blood, Grey/Blue- sterile, lifeless and Corporate, Purple- for "Royalty" and arrogance, etc.). Yet, creator Vince Gilligan goes even deeper, using certain classic archetypes to subliminally convey to the audience each characters fate. Just as with Breaking Bad, this show is an origin story. The story of how the "character" of Saul Goodman was created. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review Erik B The slow burn of Jimmy's descent towards Saul continues in the excellent second season of Better Call Saul. Immensely intriguing and incredibly genuine feeling. A+ television. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Florent J On entre dans le feu de l'action! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/24/23 Full Review Nestor G Every season is awesome, Bob and Rhea, are excellent. The whole series is recommendable. Much, much better than Breaking Bad, which after the first two seasons declined. The scripts are so good that you enjoy and wait will happen next, not like the crappy Breaking Bad that was so predictable and unbelievable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Milanka M After an amazing first season, the show gets even better, the characters and their relationships are further shaped out. The last scene beautifully sets up the third season and the arc of its first half. Just like the first season the second one is also extremely underrated. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/18/23 Full Review letaiser I think that was a pretty boring season and only the last episode was one I really liked but the rest was very very boring Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
