EU Support to AMIS (Darfur)

EU HR Javier Solana visited Darfur

The European Union established an EU civilian-military action to support the African Union's enhanced Mission to Sudan / Darfur, AMIS, at the request of the African Union (AU), on 18 July 2005 (Council Joint Action 2005/557/CFSP, OJ L 188, 20.07.2005 ).

The mandate for this supporting action by the EU came to an end on 31 December 2007 when AMIS handed over to the African Union / United Nations hybrid operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
