Hilton has an exclusive credit card relationship with American Express and now during a limited time offer, the points new cardholders can earn have just increased. On top of the extra bonus points you’ll have the chance to earn elite status with the hotel chain and bonus points where you use the card most. And two of the offers, including one on a card with no annual fee, come with a free night certificate. These offers don’t come around often, so jump on the opportunity before time runs out.

Which Hilton Credit Cards have limited time offers?

Hilton and American Express have three personal credit cards, and for a limited time, they are revamping their offers to make them even more appealing.

The Hilton Honors American Express Card offers a welcome bonus of 100,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $2,000 in purchases on the Card in the first 6 months of Card Membership. Offer ends 1/8/2025. The Hilton Honors Amex offers Hilton Honors Silver status, which gives you access to the fifth night free benefit.

The Hilton Honors Amex card’s big brother, the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card, welcome bonus 165,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 in purchases in your first 6 months of Card Membership. Offer ends 1/8/2025.. The Surpass comes with Hilton Honors Gold status, which offers a food and beverage credit benefit along with other perks.

The granddaddy of the bunch, the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, is upping its bonus almost 20% as well, from 150,000 to 175,000. It offers top-tier Hilton Honors Diamond status and a number of travel credits but at the cost of a sky-high annual fee. This is actually a lesser offer than the Surpass has right now when you consider that the free night award could be used for any standard room in the Hilton portfolio, which in the U.S. is up to 95,000 points per night. Make sure that you’ll recoup enough value from the card to justify it before hitting the apply button.

Who is this limited time Hilton Credit Card offer good for?

If you’ve been on the fence about a new credit card, then perhaps a bump of multiple tens of thousands of points is the carrot that gets you there. The free night certificate and extra bonus points can help you towards scoring extra free nights on your next vacation.

This offer also gives you six months to meet the (very reasonable) amount of card spending required for the bonus, so if offers that make you spend a lot in three months don’t appeal to you, jump on this one.

Who shouldn’t take advantage of this limited time offer?

If you’re on the fence about a new credit card, or you don’t foresee yourself staying at many Hilton hotels, then maybe pass on the offer for now. This offer is great for those who can see themselves using the points in the near future for a stay.

American Express often puts “lifetime language” into their credit card applications, meaning that if you applied for this card in the past you might not be able to earn the bonus again. If you think that might be you, double check that you qualify for this extra bonus promotion. American Express will let you know if you try to apply and you are not eligible, giving you an opportunity to cancel the application if you do not qualify for the bonus.

How to redeem Hilton Honors rewards

So now that you’ve decided to walk away with at least 100,000 Hilton points, and perhaps up to 165,000 Hilton Honors points after applying, what are you going to do with all of them? Well, stay in hotels, of course!

Hilton’s free night awards are uncapped, meaning if you can find a standard room redemption you can use it. Hilton doesn’t have a published award chart, so you’re going to have to choose your destination and dates to see how much they’ll charge for a night at a hotel you’re interested in going to.

Pro tip

Hilton free night certificates are unique because you can use them on any standard room regardless of points cost. I’ve gotten amazing value out of them at properties like the Conrad Midtown Manhattan in New York, the La Quinta resort in Palm Springs and the Waldorf Astoria Cavalieri in Rome. Each room was well over $500/night for the night I stayed. Dia Adams, Senior Editor

One amazing benefit of redeeming your points with Hilton is their fifth night free benefit offered to members who have silver status or higher, which all three of these cards offer. When you redeem your points for a five night minimum stay, your fifth night is free, meaning you’ll only pay for the first four nights. This will make your points even more valuable and net you even longer vacations.

As an example, let’s say you’ve always wanted to go to Cape Town to explore the wineries, amazing history and unique Malay food culture. The Doubletree Cape Town East is only 18,000 points for the first night, a steal for a hotel close to the center of town.

As you walk through the check out process, you can see that Hilton removed the fifth night cost, making the cost for your entire five night stay only 71,000 points.

Applying for this credit card can get you a week or more of free hotel stays in many cities all over the world.

Are these Hilton Credit Cards right for you?

If you’ve got a hotel stay coming up where a free night certificate plus points will help, then consider adding these cards. Remember that you’ll also earn bonus points at supermarkets, restaurants, and gas stations, so your points earned after your welcome bonus can get a big boost. If you’re not planning a hotel stay, then perhaps sit this one out.
