About us
In a world where media can be divisive and untrustworthy, we believe in the power of media and communication to do good. Our work reaches millions of people facing insecurity, inequality and poverty with information they can trust. We support the independent media essential to democracy and development. And we inform, connect and inspire change in our audiences, providing trusted information, stories and ideas that generate debate and discussion and bridge divides. We reach more than 100 million people a year – helping to save lives and improve health, protect livelihoods, challenge inequality and build more peaceful and democratic societies. BBC Media Action is not funded by the BBC Licence Fee, and instead relies on the generous support of our donors.

Happy #PrideMonth! 🏳️🌈 To be a member of LGBTQI+ communities in #Ukraine still means facing widespread discrimination and targeted misinformation. In 2023 we supported Suspilne, Ukraine’s public service broadcaster, to commission Visible, a landmark film series that profiled the diverse experiences of members of LGBTQI+ communities during the war. “They sacrifice their professional and personal lives (for) their country. Yet at the same time, they still do not have the opportunity to freely and without fear hold their partner's hand while walking down the central streets of Kyiv. And they cannot legally register a relationship so that if they are injured, their partners could visit them.”— Taisiia Kutuzova, Chief Editor, Vydymi (Visible), Suspilne The series follows Lesya, a transgender woman in the military, Pavlo and Vlad, a gay couple serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and lawyer Mariia Klyus who is working to change Ukraine's laws on registered partnerships. 👉 https://bbc.in/3RJ83lI #Ukraine #Pride #PrideMonth #LGBTQ+ #Inclusion #CelebrateDiversity

It’s #MenstrualHealthDay! Girls often have little or no access to information around periods, puberty and reproductive health in #Indonesia. “I want to know if it is dangerous if I miss a period and if irregular periods are abnormal so I can stop being anxious."
