Villagers who live in super remote areas of Thailand use whats around them, for example bamboo is one of the most important things for them. They use it for food, houses and even make cups out of them.

We are looking for volunteers to join us for our February water construction. This will be an opportunity to live for the month in Karen village learn and support in the construction of a life giving water system to the villagers, learn about Karen ways of life, cooking, farming, games etc. What comes with this, KHT pays for and organised accommodation once in Mae Hong Son, transport from Chiang Mai to Khun Yuam and then to the village, all food for the month. If you are interested please see our website: https://lnkd.in/eDGMzzB5 or email [email protected]

Karen villagers are always incredible hosts, when we stay and work in villages often we are invited to stay in their homes instead of having us stay in tents or offered to join them for meals in their homes. This is always something we are so greatful for as a team and are honoured by their hospitality.

Due to the rainy season all of KHT's construction projects are put on pause. Next month we will start back up on our water and irrigation projects, the team spend the last month of the rainy season preparting for the construction year, servicing the pick-ups, setting up village surveys, doing endlines for M&E and so much more that is more difficult to stay on top of when the construction year gets underway.

There has been heavy rains in Mae Hong Son recently which has resulted in a flash flood destroying two of our irrigation systems, this is a first in KHT's history. Luckily nobody was injured. To learn more please read our most recent blog post: https://lnkd.in/esUSeTXP

We are in our last couple days of our 50km challenge. We have been raising funds for a new school bus route for 17 students in Mae Hong Son, this will make a world of difference for many of the students who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to attend school due to a dangerous route to get there. Every penny goes towards supporting Karen people and we would greatly appreciate any donation. Thank you for your ongoing support. https://lnkd.in/e48nYHec
