UK’s fastest-selling second-hand car revealed as petrol model takes just 11 days to fly off forecourts

THE UK's fastest-selling second-hand car has been revealed after flying off forecourts in just 11 days.
The petrol model has proven to be such a hit with customers that it is selling more than two and a half times quicker than the national average.

That's according to the latest data provided by Auto Trader, which states the Peugeot 208 has taken top spot for sales across the last four weeks.
The online marketplace’s latest data shows that petrol models of the supermini that are up to one year old are the most favourable with drivers.
The five-door hatchback is considered one of the best small cars on the market, scoring top marks for its ride comfort, interior quality and refinement.
It's value and running costs are also highly rated, put it at the top of many people's second-hand car wish list.

The pint-sized Pug has a RRP range of £23,160 to £28,360, according to Car Wow, so it's no surprise it's popular on the second-hand market where prices are slashed.
May marks the second month in a row that a Peugeot has taken the top spot for the UK's fastest-selling second-hand car.
Last month, the 208’s larger counterpart, the 3008, took an average of 12 days to sell.
A dynamic vehicle, motorists have a choice of one petrol engine, one diesel and three plug-in hybrid models in the 3008 range.

Auto Trader's recent data also revealed that petrol models, including the 208, make up most of the current fastest sellers, while four alternatively fuelled vehicles and a sole diesel comprise the rest.
The online marketplace said this reflects the wider used car market, where petrol is now selling faster than any other fuel type.

On average, it takes around 27 days for a petrol model to be shifted from retailers' forecourts.
Used cars are currently selling three days faster than they were in May last year, Auto Trader's data shows, and with the summer months coming up, the numbers are only expected to increase.
Richard Walker, Auto Trader’s data & insights director, said: "The speed at which used cars sell is a key indicator of the underlying strength of the market.
"Since the new year, we’ve tracked very robust levels of consumer demand, and while the average speed of sale has softened slightly on the record pace we saw in March, the market continues to carry some real momentum behind it.
"Cars are selling faster than last year, retail prices are stabilising, and importantly, with average sales up over 6% in April, more are also being sold."
Some of the other top-selling cars are the Toyota Prius, Seat Leon, Volvo XC40, Citroen C4, Mercedes-Benz GLB Class, Mercedes-Benz GLA Class and the Ford Kuga.
Just one used electric vehicle made it on to the current top ten list – the Jaguar I-Pace (five to ten years), which is currently taking an average of 13 days to sell.
Elsewhere, a car dealer has revealed how he bought a battered old Peugeot for just £250, only to sell it for a massive profit after some DIY tweaks.
