  • Wilson's apology

Kyren Wilson apologised to Jak Jones moments after winning the World Snooker Championship.

After winning, he could not contain his emotion and shouted: “Get in there!”

He then gave a tearful interview to the BBC, saying: “I’d like to say sorry to Jak for that outburst. It means so much to us.

“My parents have re-mortgaged, sacrificed their whole lives to keep me here. My brother, too. It’s a massive team effort.

“I said I would never cry again but I have. Jak was so tough. I don’t know if there are any people left in Wales, the amount of people cheering for him.

  • Hendry shocks Murphy

Stephen Hendry shocked Shaun Murphy with a cheeky quip while on punditry duty.

With Jak Jones entering the final session 15-10 down, Shaun Murphy asked Hendry: “If you’re sat in Jak Jones’ chair tonight, what are you saying to him?”

Hendry brilliantly replied: “To be honest I’m usually more in Kyren’s position – being five frames ahead!”

His confident response got a big laugh out of the audience inside the Crucible theatre and prompted Murphy to mimic the action of dropping a microphone.

Murphy didn’t stop there either as he teased Hendry by saying: “It’s always about you isn’t it?”

  • Bingham swaps sports

Stuart Bingham will be back in action tomorrow as he competes in the UK Pool Open.

  • Davis' Crucible plea

Steve Davis has pleaded with the Hearn's to save the Crucible.

Barry Hearn has made hi stance clear, he will take snooker to Saudi if they offer enough money.

And players have also hinted they would be willing to follow in the footsteps if it came to it.

But Davis has said: "There are reasons why you don’t throw your history away lightly.

“The game is massive now worldwide. More so than any of the general public in the UK realise.

“If I’m talking to somebody who’s a casual neutral watcher, they’ll say to me: ‘Ah, it’s a shame isn’t as good as it used to be.’

“I say to them, you cannot believe how it good is now. Everything is sold out.

The World Championships are sold out the year before.

“There might not be so many snooker clubs around but trust me, the game worldwide is getting bigger as well.

“It would be great if Sheffield Council really do commit.

“I don’t know how difficult it is for them to maybe make capacity of the Crucible bigger or show more commitment.

“The snooker brings in loads of money to Sheffield. It would be a sad day if it ever left.

“If the game of snooker gets bigger and bigger worldwide, somewhere down the line there will be more pressure on the powers that be to do something with that.

“I don’t think a move is imminent by any means. But you can never say never.”
