CALL The Midwife star Helen George was left mortified when her latest TV interview went awry.

The popular star was chatting to Gethin Jones and Kym Marsh on the BBC's Morning Live about all of her latest projects.

She was appearing via a video link from home and kept things casual in a simple jumper and with her hair scraped over onto one side.

It allowed a peek into Helen's home as she appeared to be chatting from a bedroom.

With not much on display, viewers could see Helen's dog laying on the bed in the background throughout the interview with Gethin going on to remark that he was "the star of the show".

However, it appeared that he had spoken too soon as her pooch, named Charlie, soon got up to something on his own.

He suddenly began to clean himself as he could be seen licking his private parts on the bed.

Helen could be seen stunned as she attempted to block him from view but Gethin had already clocked what was going on.

As she giggled, he said: "Oh, he's busy now, maybe now is the time to say goodbye."

As Kym could be heard cackling in the background, Gethin joked to Helen: "Yeah, people are still eating their shortbread, Helen!"

She then struggled to keep a straight face as Charlie continued to enjoy his self-grooming in the background.

Earlier on in the interview, Charlie responded every time Helen said his name as he could be seen writing around on the bed before taking a rest.

It left more fans in hysterics as they shared clips of the moment online for all to see.

Helen had been on the show to chat about her upcoming theatre role as well as to tease the upcoming Christmas Day episode of Call the Midwife.
