But following the Black Lives Matter campaign a number of shows and networks have been re-evaluating their content for racial sensitivity.

It has prompted Tina and her 30 Rock co-creator Robert Carlock and the show's owner NBCUniversal, to request four episodes be removed as soon as possible.

Variety reports a note written by Tina to the platforms read: "As we strive to do the work and do better in regards to race in America, we believe that these episodes featuring actors in race-changing makeup are best taken out of circulation.

"I understand now that ‘intent’ is not a free pass for white people to use these images.

"I apologize for pain they have caused. Going forward, no comedy-loving kid needs to stumble on these tropes and be stung by their ugliness.

"I thank NBCUniversal for honoring this request."

The episodes in question are season three's Believe In The Stars and season five's Christmas Attack Zone.

Both episodes featured Jane Krakowski’s character Jenna in blackface, while season six's Live from Studio 6H featured Jon Hamm in blackface as part of an Amos ‘n’ Andy parody.

The fourth episode to be removed is the East Coast version of season five's The Live Show.

All four episodes have already been removed from Amazon and Hulu and they will no longer air as reruns on TV.

Earlier this month creators of UK shows including Little Britain apologised for their blackface content while The League of Gentleman and The Mighty Boosh were removed from Netflix.
