Who is Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett's husband Jaymes Vaughan?

Prior to their engagement, Jonathan Bennett and Jaymes were dating for four years.

In November 2020, the couple made headlines when Jaymes proposed to Jonathan in an unconventional way.

At the time, the engaged pair revealed to People that Jaymes proposed while playing an original song he wrote for Jonathan.

Jonathan told People: "He wrote me a song! We would always hear songs and think, 'Oh that would be our song if just this part or that part were different,' so as a result, we didn’t have a song that was 'ours.'"

"I was told we were going to be taking family Christmas card photos and that’s why Jaymes’s photographer friend Eric was here along with my photographer nephew Andrew."

The actor recalled: "But then no one would look me in the eye and I was like what is going on? I later found it out, it was because they didn’t want to spoil what was about to happen."

"My sister shouted for me to come outside 'real quick' and my F.O.M.O. kicked in so I ran outside. Then I looked over and saw Jaymes holding a sign that said 'We never did find our song, so I wrote it for you.'"

Jaymes added to Jonathan's retelling: "It’s amazing what magic can happen with a friend and a guitar when you’re trying to create something to tell someone you want to spend forever with them."

"Thank God he was filming in Canada for six weeks, otherwise I don’t know how I would have pulled this off."

The tune - which was entirely "personal to Jonathan" - then started playing out of a hidden speaker.

"It’s hard for me to really remember the rest because I think my body just decided to blackout and ugly cry," Jonathan told People.

"All I was doing was ugly crying. But I just remember feeling like I was home. I knew from the minute I saw him with the sign I was getting proposed to."

The Mean Girls alum added: "When I saw Jaymes take a knee I was so excited I just started hysterically screaming because I didn’t know how to express myself properly.

"There was a moment when you feel like, 'Oh, this is forever, I understand it.' I screamed 'Yes' immediately. Actually, it was, 'Yes! Of course!'"

When did Jaymes and Jonathan get married?

On March 19, 2022, Jonathan and Jaymes revealed on social media and to People that they tied the knot.

Their destination wedding took place at Unico Riviera Maya Hotel in Mexico.

Following the ceremony, Jaymes disclosed to People: "The whole purpose of our wedding is to come together and join the two of us together, join our families together and start a new family."

"When you're part of the LGBTQ+ fam, not everything in the wedding space is for you yet."

Jonathan's other half shared: "I got to marry my best friend! I knew we'd be emotional but I don't think either of us realized just how overwhelming that moment would be until we were in it."

"Seeing him crying only made me cry harder, and then our guests cry harder, and then we'd all start laughing, and then all back into crying."

Jonathan also piled on Jaymes' sentiment: "And all that, as we were going through this process, we realized that our wedding is also more than just about us, It's about the entire community."

"It was honestly a dream wedding! We kept having to stop and remind ourselves that we weren't on a movie set, but this was actually our real life."

"If you had told me this was one of my Hallmark movie sets, I would have believed it. It was that perfect." said the Mean Girls alum.
