Description

This toolkit was created following the NASN Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice™ to guide school nurses in supporting students with epilepsy. The toolkit is comprised of two parts: a complete guide for supporting students with epilepsy in the transition of care from pediatric to adult care, and an extensive compilation of seizure training and resources.

The toolkit draws primarily on the key Framework principle and practice components of care coordination, along with components of leadership, quality improvement, public health, and standards of practice, to provide nurses with a comprehensive guide for implementing transition planning and school-based seizure care.

The toolkit is comprised of three sections:

  • Transition of Care for Students with Epilepsy
  • Supporting Students with Epilepsy in the School Setting
  • Transition Tools
