The Explore tab on Google Podcasts includes both algorithmically-generated recommendations as well as curated podcast collections organized by theme or event.
The intent of the Explore tab is to connect users with podcast content that we believe will be of interest to them, as well as to highlight timely and local collections of podcasts. These collections may appear in the Google Podcasts app on mobile (both Android and iOS) and Google Podcasts on the web. All curated collections are marked as "featured" in the header.
For each collection, we evaluate a show’s inclusion based on the following criteria:
- Adherence to our feed requirements.
- Relevance to the collection (for example, a show on cold cases in a true crime collection)
- Frequency of publishing (that is, episode recency)
- Breadth within the collection (that is, the variety and diversity of perspectives)
While we are always experimenting with new ways to help users discover content, featured collections are currently available only to users in Brazil, France, Germany, India, and the United States.
