Pursuing truth with no agenda. Backing the best British storytelling. Bringing people together. In a major speech on the BBC’s future, Director-General Tim Davie says the broadcaster has a central role in ensuring the UK retains a healthy democracy, a strong creative economy and a more cohesive society. The Director General sets out the three essential roles the BBC will prioritise to ensure it offers value for audiences: 📰 Pursuing truth with no agenda - by reporting fearlessly and fairly ✏️ Backing the best British storytelling – by investing in homegrown talent and creativity 📺 Bringing people together – by connecting everyone to unmissable content “A new wave of technological change is reshaping our media landscape at extraordinary speed. It’s bringing fresh challenges for our democracy, our creative economy, and our society. It’s time to make a choice once again, to decide to intervene," the Director-General says. "To stand up and champion for the UK and all of us, to serve. Not to accept that only the forces of the global market will prevail. To champion an institution that is admired worldwide and is needed more now than ever. Not simply defending the BBC but fighting for what it makes us."
