BMJ Impact Analytics
Healthcare Analytics Software
Research that improves patients’ lives matters deeply to the funders, institutions and researchers who dedicate their resources to medical and health research. But evaluating the impact of this research on policy and guidelines is traditionally measured by standard scholarly metrics in the absence of more targeted analysis that relates explicitly to health improvement. BMJ and the pioneering technology start-up, Overton, set out to address this challenge by collaborating to develop BMJ Impact Analytics, the first research impact tool fcused on health and social care. It was launched in January 2023 and, by September of the same year, had already secured the prestigious Gold Award for Innovation in Publishing 2023 from the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP). "We chose to partner with BMJ because of their expertise and reach in the medical research community." Euan Adie, Founder, Overton

Mark Richards is not the only one excited! We're all excited about this at BMJ 😀
I'm excited to announce that for the first time, BMJ will be marching at London Pride on Saturday 29th June 2024! 🎉 Thanks to a successful joint application with the British Medical Association, BMJ and BMA staff, and BMA members will be marching in the parade. This is a significant milestone for both BMJ and BMA, representing a strong step forward in our support for LGBTQ+ rights and inclusivity throughout our 192-year histories. By participating in London Pride, we're showing our commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ staff and members, as well as our dedication to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment for healthcare professionals and patients around the world. Marching in Pride is a culmination of showcasing our efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community, shaped through our LGBTQ+ staff networks (OUT@BMJ and OUT@BMA). In the lead-up to Pride, we will be releasing a trans and non-binary policy for staff, working with the charity Mosaic LGBT+ Young Persons' Trust and flying the Pride Progress Flag at BMA House. Recently, BMJ has released an Author Name Change Policy for transitioning authors, and The BMJ became the first leading medical journal to include the Pride Progress Flag on the frontcover. We continue to publish articles in our journals and update resources in BMJ Best Practice and BMJ Learning related to LGBTQ+ health. 🌈 https://lnkd.in/edDjmE9u https://lnkd.in/eJkxJasT https://lnkd.in/exeveePf https://lnkd.in/eHymCfX3. https://lnkd.in/eQuiW9an https://lnkd.in/eX9H2rHh Alex Keen Theodora Bloom margherita zorzetto Devyani Mahajan Rosemary Linnell (née Fenton) Louise Crowe #BMJ #Pride #LondonPride #LGBTQ

In our latest podcast (https://lnkd.in/ga2JW-eZ) we discuss the contents of the May 2024 issue of DTB (https://lnkd.in/giSrz_fK). The editorial highlights the effect medicines have on greenhouse gas emissions and the need to consider the environmental impact of all aspects of the patient care pathway (https://lnkd.in/gbDfK2-W). We review the results of a placebo-controlled study that assessed the effect of donanemab on early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease (https://lnkd.in/gxzW9bRs). The main article considers the evidence for cytisine, a nicotine receptor partial agonist, that has recently been licensed in the UK for "smoking cessation and reduction of nicotine cravings in smokers who are willing to stop smoking". (https://lnkd.in/gpVQgrz4). We begin by highlighting some useful resources relating to the safe use of valproate. Our award-winning BMJ Impact Analytics will now be available to researchers at the Office of Health Economics thanks to a brand new partnership. Tim Watson, Director of Marketing & Communications at the Office of Health Economics commented, “Understanding the impact of our research on healthcare policy-making globally would be impossible without BMJ Impact Analytics. The scale and depth of information we can access, and the ease with which we can navigate it, is hugely impressive. The value of this tool goes far beyond discovering where we are cited. We see it playing a major role in identifying future collaborators as well as additional avenues for sharing our research. All of this will enhance our ability to make meaningful contributions to the field of healthcare research and positively impact patient care worldwide.” If this is something you'd like to explore for your own organisation, then touch base with Manisha Bolina today! https://lnkd.in/e6iGGG9Z
