Reimagining energy for people and our planet

About us

We believe the world wants and needs a better and more balanced energy system that delivers secure, affordable and lower-carbon energy. We're playing our part by investing in today's energy system, which is mainly oil and gas – and, not or – in our transition and the energy transition. While today we’re mostly in oil and gas, we increased the proportion of our global annual investment that went into our lower carbon & other transition businesses from around 3% in 2019 to around 23% in 2023. Increasing investment in these engines is a sign that bp’s wider transformation is underway. Check out our commenting guidelines 👉 bp.com/CommentsGuide

The Azeri Central East (ACE) platform, our latest and most technologically advanced platform in the Caspian, has come online. Located off the coast of Baku, Azerbaijan, the platform is part of our effort to help secure vital #Energy supplies for the region and Europe – and grow value for bp, too. It’s the latest piece in the maturing Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, which means we can continue to make the most of the basin. It’s also one of our most technologically and digitally advanced platforms to date, allowing us to manage safety risks, reduce emissions and raise efficiency – all through the power of #Digital. We can all play a part in helping to shape a world where people no longer have to experience racial discrimination. Although there's still much work to do to make this a reality, we are grateful to every one of the colleagues across our organisation doing their bit to show up for each other and create an inclusive and welcoming environment. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏼 This #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfRacialDiscrimination, join us in acknowledging the people who role model inclusion, celebrate diversity and strive to end racism everywhere!👏

We’re gearing up for first #Oil from our Azeri Central East (ACE) #Offshore platform, which is expected very soon. Check out this incredible footage of the topsides sail away and the journey to its final location off the Caspian coast. Did you know? ACE is our most modern and technologically advanced platform. Controlled from land, it marks a significant step forward for our industry – proving the concept of remote controlling offshore operations safely and efficiently from an onshore hub. Stay tuned for updates! 👀🏗️🎮

Helping to fuel the world’s first transatlantic flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF) by a commercial airline: done ✅ But our sky-high ambitions for our SAF business didn’t end on touchdown. Although most of what we produce today is conventional jet fuel, we plan to invest to produce more #Biofuels to help make it more available for our customers, and to create value for bp too. We know scaling up SAF production won’t be easy, but we want to help make it happen and help enable lifecycle carbon emission savings associated with the aviation industry. This milestone is another example of our transformation to an integrated #Energy company. Learn more about the landmark flight: on.bp.com/3sKUNDL - - - While today we’re mostly in oil and gas, we increased the proportion of our global annual investment that went into our lower carbon & other transition businesses from around 3% in 2019 to around 23% in 2023.

How is the use of energy in buildings changing? By 2050 we could see buildings using more low-carbon energy sources. We are working to help support that transition, working with a wide range of customers and partners to find the right energy solutions for them. The way industries use energy is changing. The #EnergyOutlook shows a possible move towards an energy mix that’s largely electric, with low-carbon hydrogen and fossil fuels accompanied by carbon capture by 2050. Our focus today is on working with customers in sectors that have significant carbon emissions – such as heavy industry and heavy transport – to help them decarbonize. Learn more about why it matters in the bp #EnergyOutlook report: on.bp.com/3TWIXOH -- While today we’re mostly in oil and gas, we increased the proportion of our global annual investment that went into our lower carbon & other transition businesses from around 3% in 2019 to around 23% in 2023.

Today, global #Shipping is powered almost entirely by oil, but the bp #EnergyOutlook shows possible scenarios where that could shrink to as low as 10% by 2050. We are helping to support that shift by researching and developing new ways to adopt a range of #Biofuels and other lower carbon alternatives, including #Hydrogen-based fuels and #LNG. See why transforming how the world ships is important in the bp Energy Outlook report: on.bp.com/3TWIXOH -- While today we’re mostly in oil and gas, we increased the proportion of our global annual investment that went into our lower carbon & other transition businesses from around 3% in 2019 to around 23% in 2023.
