We work with mainstream and special schools in nine boroughs to ensure every young person can make their best next steps. Our team recently supported the excellent team at Willow Dene, a special school in Greenwich, to help over 200 students in different year groups focus on their futures. During the three "power days" some exciting employers brought career planning and options to life with engaging activities tailored to the students' needs. (Including marshmallow and pasta.) Find out more about what happened on the days, and how you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/dczGq8aC Our thanks to Mark Clayton, Assistant Headteacher and the team at Willow Dene; Unity Works Social Enterprises , Ask Apprenticeships, St John Ambulance, ELEVATE Youth Mentoring Programme, Morgan Sindall Construction and Caroline Lee for making this brilliant day happen. #careers #careerseducation #LocalLondon #SENDeducation #greenwich

About us
The Careers Hub East helps young people to build the skills and experiences they need to lead successful futures. It does this by connecting businesses with schools and colleges. This ensures that young people are aware of all the career pathways and opportunities available to them. In June 2018, the Mayor of London announced the expansion of the London Enterprise Adviser Network to support state secondary schools, Pupil Referral Units and Further Education Colleges in every London borough. London is one of the world's leading economic centres, while also being a hotbed for innovation, creativity and design. This means there are tens of thousands of exciting job opportunities for young Londoners. The expanded London Enterprise Adviser Network will connect even more schools with London’s employers. This will help to ensure that all young Londoners can build the networks they need to lead successful and fulfilling lives. A huge #thankyou to our volunteers that took part in our female focused event at Redden Court School this morning. It was a great success, with students and staff commenting on how inspired they felt seeing, hearing from and working with such a skilled, interesting, talented group of women. In our Activity room, thank you to Wates Group and the following participants who we can now reveal were: Georgina Hawkins and Nikhita Jackson, Alina Odica, Esther Pellow Katrina Singcuenco for the Guess My Role session. This room was full of questions and learning about the remit of roles available and womens impact through urban design. At our cross over point students couldn't wait to tell us in the other room about their experience, the challenge and how it made them ask so many questions! In the Panel Conversation room we are thankful to Sarah Murray for her leadership through the event and to Colette Lyons, Niti Paul, Morgan Snyman and Jennifer Stone for discussing their experiences for describing the opportunities #apprenticeships bring and for inspiring their audiences to be their best. Both rooms demanded the young women ask questions, put themselves forward and aim for their goals and they surely did respond to the vision - loudly! #womensupportingwomen #iwd #womenintech #womeninNHS #careers #womeninconstruction #locallondon #grateful #thanks #letsgetloud #secondaryschool

📄 The The Careers & Enterprise Company has launched a report on the development of Careers Education in England. The report draws on data and insight from over 100,000 young people, more than 4,500 secondary schools and colleges in England, as well as employers. ✔ 92% of schools and colleges are part of a local Careers Hub. ✔ More than 3,000 Careers Leaders have been trained and all of them are supported by digital tools and resources. ✔ Current levels of activity are saving the Treasury an estimated £150m per year in reduction of levels of young people who are NEET alone.

Another exciting event coming up from our Careers Hub East team with a fabulous panel and fun games such as "Guess my role" to help young women explore their career pathways and address myths around working in certain sectors. Our team work with hundreds of amazing employers and schools across our 9 boroughs to broaden and raise the career aspirations of young people. If you would like to get involved contact [email protected] We are aligning education with real world careers. For example construction is a priority sector locally where we are aiming to close the skills gap. With growth and ongoing need forecast, it's imperative all young people understand the diverse range of roles within the sector. #womeninconstruction #apprenticeships #careerseducation #LocalLondon #womenintech #LSIP #Localskillsimprovementplan
We are very much looking forward to our upcoming event with Redden Court School in Romford, #Havering this Thursday, where we will be hosting an exciting two-hour programme for three hundred and eighty young women between school years 7-10. The group will be split into two activities through carousel. In room one, we are proud to present a panel of five distinguished career women, moderated by our very own Local London Director, Sarah Murray. Our panel will share insights into their professional journeys, including how they entered their respective fields, the challenges they've faced and conquered, and the stories behind their successes. We are very grateful for the support of Colette Lyons Enterprise Adviser with the school who has been integral to the organisation of Thursdays event. As well as Enterprise Advisers, Niti Paul and Jennifer Stone for their time and support and expertise. Also, Morgan Snyman, a truly amazing orator for young people regarding her #apprenticeship journey since leaving Havering education. Additionally, we are very grateful to Georgina Hawkins and Nikhita Jackson through Wates Group for generously supporting the strategy of this event with the second room, which will be an activity room for the programme. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a 'Guess My Role' challenge featuring several eminent women from the construction industry and Wates' supply chain. The activity will help them challenge perceptions of gender stereotyping and industry myths to see the depth of careers available through urban design. It is events like these that empower and inspire young women to explore diverse career paths and develop resilience to overcome obstacles along the way. We are excited to support the school to create a supportive careers environment where these students can learn and grow. #womeninbusiness #iwd #womensupportingwomen #careers #secondaryschool #edi #construction #locallondon #watesgroup #diversity #womenintech #nhs #humanresources
