Boss has been  cancelled by Starz, according to an official statement from the network. Update: Deadline is reporting that there may be a two-hour movie in the works to wrap up the storyline. Official statement is below.

After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with Boss. We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers, and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV.

    Odd Decision.

  2. Oliver

    Its ratings were terrible.

  3. John

I won’t be watching any new Starz series from now on. They cancel everything after two seasons. Terrible, terrible network.

  4. james

Ratings sucked season 2, flatlined below 500,000 viewers … very bad

  5. Noé

    Oh God! Not Boss!!! :(

  6. Jason

Spartacus is ending in a few months, Da Vinci’s Demons looks so-so at best, Magic City is ok, Marco Polo has hit production snags in China, Black Sails won’t run until 2014 and it’ll only be 8 eps long and there’s no word on Noir. Announce something interesting quick Starz or I’m going to have trouble justifying the subscription after the cancellation of Boss.

    Dissapointing? Yes. Surprising? No.

I’ll also play Fan Excuse Bingo : if it was on HBO/AMC/Showtime etc., it would have been a hit.

I know the ratings were bad, but I thought they would give it a third and final season because it was so critically acclaimed. They should wrap the story up somehow. I hope they make the movie.

Poor Kelsey, I’m sure he will say his show was cancelled because he is a republican.

if only Kelsey had killed zombies or vampires in the south or had a cool Nordic accent with a winter is coming tagline he would have survived.

  14. Julia

    :(

  15. Exit Flagger

    No more titz!

I was surprised they ever brought it to series. I enjoyed (maybe not the right word), I appreciated and liked it but it was very niche, almost Treme niche.

I will be curious if the 93 Golden Globe voters nominate AND award Kelsey again this year. His peers at the Emmys were not having it at all.

  17. Aaron

Calling AMC, FX, HBO, or Showtime, please, for the love of god, pick this show up for another season.

  18. Percysowner

I don’t get Starz, oh heck, I don’t get any premium channels, so I can’t judge the quality. Glad to hear the ratings were not good because I know I’m about to be bombarded with how nobody loves Kelsey Grammar because he is a Republican and Hollywood is SO MEAN! At least I can feel that no, it’s just the ratings.

    @Tik
“Poor Kelsey, I’m sure he will say his show was cancelled because he is a republican.”

Lol, no doubt he will but since Tom Selleck, Angie Harmon, Gary Sinise, Donald Trump, Craig T. Nelson, and Patricia Heaton are all conservatives and or Republicans with current TV shows he’ll be full of crap, as ever.

awww… i was gonna start watching that someday.
