24 Movie Script Ready

Kiefer Sutherland discusses TV spin-off at BAFTA event.

Following Kiefer Sutherland's well-publicised night out in London's Soho last week, the actor recovered in time to talk 24 at an exclusive BAFTA Q&A.

The star, still clearly emotional after having wrapped the eighth and final season of the show last week, said that he was looking forward to now concentrating on the spin-off movie.

Keifer Sutherland, in conversation at BAFTA on Friday.

According to Sutherland, screenwriter Billy Ray (State of Play) finished the film's script a couple of weeks ago, with the star planning to read it when he returns to the States.

The film will condense the show's 24-hour time-frame into two hours, meaning the plot won't be constrained by geography.

"We've always had to have the situation come to us," he explained. "But now it's feasible to get [Jack Bauer] from Eastern Europe to England [during the movie]."

Sutherland also hinted that the plot will hearken back to season one, with a more insular crisis. "It doesn't have to be a bomb," he continued. "It can be something personal that people understand."

The star gave no indication as to when production with start, but with the script written and his schedule now relatively clear, expect the 24 movie to hit sooner rather than later.
