Jack Bauer is coming to an iPod near you.
24, the Fox show that chronicles the crazy life of the renegade counterterrorism spaz, can now be downloaded on iTunes, as Apple's popular digital media store has inked a deal with Fox and several News Corp. channels to sell shows for $1.99 per episode.
Apple signed the deal with Fox, FX, Speed, Fuel, and 20th Century Fox TV for episodes of 16 shows, landing its biggest single batch of video content at one time. iTunes will now sell episodes of Fox hits 24 and Prison Break and the popular FX show, The Shield.
The deal also includes FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Black. White, and 30 Days and Fox's Stacked and Unan1mous, as well as hits from the 20th Century Fox Television library, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Lost in Space.
Finally, the deal includes content from Speed like Pinks, Unique Whips, and Fuel TV's action sports diary First Hand.
Fox is the last of the big four TV networks to sign on to sell content through iTunes.
"We're thrilled to offer such a wide range of hit programming from Fox Entertainment Group on iTunes," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes, in a statement. "Customers can now download smash hits including 24, Prison Break, and The Shield from the world's most popular online video store for viewing on their computer or iPod."
For now, the shows are available for download only as single episodes. iTunes has not yet added a monthly or multishow pass as it has for Comedy Central's The Daily Show or a season pass like it has for ABC's Lost.
"They [Fox] decided they wanted to launch without a season pass," Cue told Macworld. "The show is almost over and we will add the season purchase when the season ends."
Apple said it is now selling more than 1 million videos per week.
