Following her showy season-long arc on the recent fifth season of Homeland, Miranda Otto is reuniting with Homeland executive producer Howard Gordon on 24: Legacy. Otto has been tapped as the female lead opposite Corey Hawkins in the Fox pilot, which reboots the 24 franchise with brand new characters.

Fox logo horizontal24: Legacy, written by 24 veterans Manny Coto and Evan Katz and directed by Stephen Hopkins (who helmed the original 24 pilot), chronicles military hero Eric Carter’s (Hawkins) return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Miranda Otto Homeland S5 Episode 511Otto will play Rebecca Ingram, the blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Senator John Donovan, Rebecca is struggling with second thoughts about having left the counterterrorism agency.

24: Legacy is executive produced by Howard Gordon, Coto, Katz and Brian Grazer through 20th Century Fox TV, Imagine TV and Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions. Sutherland is not reprising his role and is not creatively involved in the project at this time.

Otto is coming off playing the manipulative Allison Carr in Season 5 of Homeland. The buzzy role landed Otto on the hot list for the 2016 pilot season, leading to multiple early offers. The Australian-born actress is repped by Gersh and Management 360.

And some sexist and ageist d-bag here argued with me they have to cast someone in their early thirties. Ugh. I stated this was a great part for woman overt forty and thankfully they have cast right actress. Miranda is gonna kill it.

And if it is canceled right away because on low ratings people like you will say, “there goes FOX again canceling another great show without giving it a chance.”

I’m a cheering on the cancellation of 24 the reboot.

I hope this fails. I’m a huge 24 fan. I suffered through all the bad episodes, even defended Kim vs the cougar as not that bad and I hate everything about this reboot. If 24 continues, it should continue where it left off after 24 Live Another Day with Chloe and Kate. Yvonne Strahovski was fantastic in Live Another Day. Either keep 24 going as it was or call this something else. Don’t reboot 24. Considering this is Fox, I hope this show ends as badly as most pilots end for this network.

This is amazing. Love her. will definitely watch. Never watched the original 24 cause I actually thought Alias, was the much better show.

You must have loved the last Mission Impossible movie. JJ copied the whole Alias series plot and characters. He did not even bother changing the name of the worldwide terrorist organization (The Syndicate).
