Turteltaub hatched idea with Mouse's Aviv, Segers

Director Jon Turteltaub will make “National Treasure” his next film for Touchstone.

Turteltaub, who hatched the idea with Disney marketing head Oren Aviv and Charles Segers, will jump to the film from “Enchanted,” the yet-to-be-greenlit fantasy that he had committed to as his next film.

“National Treasure” is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Turteltaub and Christina Steinberg, who runs the director’s Junction Entertainment banner. The film is a caper story about a secret code in the U.S. Constitution the bears the whereabouts of a treasure buried in the 1700s.

The film is expected to begin shooting in March. Turteltaub, who’s repped by Endeavor, will likely return to “Enchanted” after he buries “Treasure.”

Turteltaub last directed the Mouse House hit “Disney’s The Kid,” preceded by “Instinct” and “Phenomenon.”
